Ergotron WorkFit Comparison Review – Updated 2023

There are so many brands selling desktop standing desk converters, and we wanted to see how the Ergotron WorkFit family stand out to its competitors. Currently, it has been gaining a lot of traction in the market lately. We will begin with how their warranty is, from their website:

All Ergotron and OmniMount durable products will remain free of defects in material and workmanship for a period of five years from the date of receipt of the product, subject to any exclusions and limitations as set forth below.

Most brands will only offer 6-months to a year, but Ergotron offers a 5-year limited warranty which is great for those that are looking for something more long term and don’t have to worry about an expensive product like Ergotron to break.

In this article, we’ll be going over two of their popular standing desk converters:

Our thoughts about the Ergotron WorkFit-S

The Ergotron WorkFit-S is perfect for those that want to have a minimal workstation in their office — it uses a small footprint on your desk by clamping onto the edge of it. You’ll need to make sure that your mounting surface is strong enough to handle the mounted product and equipment. By default, you’re unable to tilt or pan the monitors, however, there is an option where you can buy an additional Hinged Bow accessory that’ll allow you to do that. Depending on the model, you’ll be able to use a single or dual monitor, but with limitations.

If you want to use a dual monitor, the max screen size is 22″. If you’re using a single monitor, max screen size is 30″.

Keep in mind, this system can not be used with an iMac, and can only be used with a computer system that has a monitor that can be monitor.

PROS:
  • uses minimal footprint on your computer desk
  • easy to raise and lower your monitor
  • made with heavy duty material
CONS:
  • Can’t use iMac computers
  • Limited to only 22″ if using dual monitor
  • No cable management
  • Requires additional accessories for tilt and pan for monitors

What about the Ergotron WorkFit-T/TL?

The Ergotron WorkFit-T/TL is a great standing desktop converter with a keyboard tray. It does not protrude beyond the table top, meaning that the desk will only extend upwards. There are a couple competitor desktop converters that come towards you, such as the Varidesk or the Desk Riser by House of Trade. Some people prefer having it come straight up rather than coming towards you, just so you don’t have to shift yourself backward.

The keyboard tray on the Ergotron does not extend all the way to the edge. Which can be very limited to some users that prefer a full-width tray.

PROS:
  • Extends upwards instead of towards you.
  • Desktop large enough to place two 24″ monitors.
CONS:
  • Pricier than its competitors.
  • The keyboard doesn’t extend full width.

Our final thoughts

We can agree that Ergotron builds quality products, but like any other brands, it has its own limitations. For one, the price on their standing desk converters. You may find better standing desk converter options if you’re on a tight budget. However, we do like the five-year warranty that Ergotron offers in case if anything happens to the products; they’ll be able to help.

If you’re looking for a desktop converter that doesn’t take up too much space on your current work area, you might need to look for a product like the WorkFit-S, but if you don’t mind the larger space, you can look into the WorkFit-T or the TL, however, it just doesn’t have the keyboard width that I would like. The only difference between the T and the TL is an extra 2.5″ width, but it does come with a significant price difference.

Considering the price of the Ergotron, I feel like you’ll be able to find a competitor that does what you need.
